On the evening of November 14th, President Xi Jinping and Peruvian President Borualte attended the opening ceremony of Chancay via video conference. Chancay is a key project for China and Peru to jointly build the "the Belt and Road". After listening to the report, the two heads of state issued the order to open the port. Xi Jinping pointed out that Chancay is not only the first smart and green port in South America, but also will consolidate Peru's gateway position, become a new starting point for the "Inca Trail of the New Era", and promote the common development of China, Peru, Latin American and Caribbean countries. Borualte stated that the opening of Chancay is a historic moment for Peru, which will help Peru become an international shipping and trade center, promote Latin American integration and prosperous development. After the opening of the port, the sea freight time between China and Peru will be shortened, and logistics costs will be reduced, which will create a large number of employment opportunities for Peru.
